Toothpaste is basically alkaline(basic) in nature. It helps in neutralizing the acid produced due to the presence of bacteria in our mouth, making our teeth cavity free. So, brush daily and keep smiling.

Neutralization reaction is the one in which acid reacts with base to form a neutral solution(salt and water). Now, toothpaste is basic in nature and our mouth contains bacteria(biological cells which are present almost everywhere in our body). When these bacteria react with (eg.sugar) left on our teeth, acid is formed and the toothpaste helps in neutralizing this acid.

In this way, neutralization reaction is practically useful to us.
